Alex Albon will take part in his 100th Formula 1 race this weekend in Austin, and while many see it as a milestone, he admits it doesn't take much to achieve it nowadays.

With over 20 F1 races a season these days, Albon is right when he points out that 100 F1 races is not a major milestone like it used to be, especially when others achieved much more; Lewis Hamilton, for example, took part in his 350th F1 race back in Singapore.
Reflecting on his upcoming 100th F1 race, Albon told Formula 1's official website: "It's interesting, because I think we do so many races now a year; 100 races doesn't take long to achieve in some ways.
"But, at the same time, it's still a big milestone. I think my journey has been not as smooth as maybe other drivers on the grid.
"I think most drivers on the grid have reached 100 races already – there's not actually that many that are below 100, so I'm still one of the relatively inexperienced drivers even though I'm about to hit 100.
"I think when you pass the milestone, or when I do, there'll be a little bit of reflection on my ups and downs in my Formula 1 career so far. But, at the same time, you don't win a trophy for it!
"Maybe when I get to 150 [races] or I'll get grey hair, I'll look at it fondly," Albon concluded.
The British-born Thai driver was quite right when he said his journey in F1 was not smooth. He made his debut with Toro Rosso (no VCARB) back in 2019 as part of the Red Bull junior driver program under the ruthless management of Dr. Helmut Marko.
In the middle of the 2019 F1 season, Albon was promoted to Red Bull Racing to partner Max Verstappen and replace the struggling Pierre Gasly, who replaced Daniel Ricciardo at the team.
It was not an easy time at Red Bull, but after also racing for the team in 2020, Albon was let go, making way for Sergio Perez.
After spending the 2021 season on the sidelines, Albon was approached by Williams and was released by Red Bull to join the British team.
He has performed impressively with Williams since joining them in 2022 and remains with them for now.
