In truth, 2020 wasn’t the best year in the sporting arena. Life off-track was challenging, but F1 fans enjoyed one of the most entertaining seasons of their lives.

Now 2021 is here, and there will be a lot of expectations. The bar has been set high, so we look at the year's expectations and the things that should definitely excite fans.
#1. Hamilton’s Shot at Title No.8
Lewis Hamilton enjoyed 2020. He broke records left, right, and centre, breaking Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 victories, as well as recording the highest number of wins for a single manufacturer. Overall, Hamilton has 95 victories, 74 of them with Mercedes.
It was the same year Hamilton claimed his seventh championship, which matches Schumacher’s record. Even before the 2021 season kicks off, he is a hot favourite to clinch his eighth. F1 fans can bet with Betway88 online for races in the upcoming season.
#2. Schumacher is Back
The name Schumacher evokes a lot of memories on the racing scene. 2021 will see the return of Schumacher’s name on the grid since 2012. Veteran Michael Schumacher’s son Mick will be debuting this year with Haas.
The veteran’s son already boasts an impressive record of his own in the junior category. He won the 2018 European F3 before enjoying a consistent 2020 season where he was crowned the winner in the F1 feeder series. He succeeds the likes of George Russell and Charles Leclerc.
#3. Alonso Returns
Fernando Alonso, the man who gave Michael Schumacher sleepless nights, is poised to return to the F1 grid this year. He replaces Daniel Ricciardo at Alpine (formerly Renault) with whom he secured his back-to-back world titles in 2005 and 2006.
Alonso’s last engagement with F1 was in 2018, but he signed a contract with Alpine in July last year. In December, he led the timesheets in the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi, sending signals across the divide about his real intentions this year. Watch out 2021, Fernando Alonso is back.
#4. Wounded Ferrari Seeks to Regain Lost Glory
Ferrari will not be the only manufacturer seeking to oust Mercedes in 2021, but it certainly promises to be a grueling adventure on the tracks. From the drivers' list, the Prancing Horse is confident led by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who has been exceptional over the last couple of seasons with McLaren.
Ferrari finished a disappointing sixth in the 2020 constructors’ rankings, which is their worst finish since 1980. Bet with Betway88 if you believe Leclerc and Sainz can mount a real challenge.
#5. Strong Line-up for Red Bull
There is a belief that if Mercedes do not win it in 2021, Red Bull will. Since 2014, the Mercedes dominance has been demoralizing for rivals where they boast 100% pole and win record at season finales in Abu Dhabi. In 2020 Red Bull made their real intentions known, with Max Verstappen breaking the streak to win at Yas Marina.
This year could see red Bull field one of their most formidable line-ups since 2018 when Verstappen was paired with Daniel Ricciardo. Sergio Perez has replaced Alex Albon, meaning this year promises an even better season for Arrows.
From wherever you are, bet on your favourite team with Betway88, one of the leading bookmakers for F1 betting.
