Haas F1 Team arrive at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix determined to convert encouraging signs into stronger results after admitting they underachieved despite scoring points across Formula 1's last two street races.

The American team heads into Round 7 of the championship P7 in the 2026 Formula 1 Constructors' standings with 21 points, returning to a circuit it knows well after conducting its first official shakedown of the VF-26 at Barcelona in January.
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which hosts Formula 1 for the final time before the Spanish Grand Prix moves to Madrid in September, provides a far sterner examination of a car's aerodynamic performance than the previous rounds in Monaco and Montreal. Its combination of high-speed corners, including the long Turn 3 and sweeping Turn 9, has long made it one of the sport's benchmark venues.
Team principal Ayao Komatsu said Haas had learned a great deal since its first laps of the season at the track but needed to make another step forward: "For the second European race, we return to Barcelona, where we started this year in January with our first pre-season test of the new regulations
"Naturally, our understanding of the car since then has been exponential. Barcelona offers a very different challenge to the previous two circuits though, which were both non-permanent street courses," Komatsu said.
Haas scored points in both recent races but Komatsu believes there was more on offer: "We scored points in both of those races, we know we have to make a step now. We need to take all the learnings from those two events and adjust accordingly to the very different demands of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
"Even though we operated well in Monaco, we felt we underachieved there, so we're keen to get back out this weekend," added the Haas boss.

Bearman hoping upgrades show their potential

Oliver Bearman is targeting an immediate response after a difficult Monaco weekend, with the Briton hopeful Barcelona's varied layout will better showcase the team's latest developments.
"A nice thing about racing is that there's very quickly another opportunity to score points and put the previous weekend behind you, and that's exactly what I'm looking for this weekend in Barcelona. It's a track that all drivers are very familiar with, and I'm hoping that this will be the first time we can really see the performance that the upgrade we brought to Canada has delivered."
Bearman believes the circuit's blend of corner types and overtaking opportunities could allow Haas to challenge for another top-10 finish: "There's a mixture of low and high speed corners, plenty of opportunities for overtaking, and I believe this is where we can put ourselves into the top 10."
Esteban Ocon also arrives encouraged after finishing in the points in Monaco and is looking forward to returning to one of the most familiar venues on the Formula 1 calendar.
"It's good to be back racing so soon after finishing in the points in Monaco," Ocon said. "Barcelona is a track that we know very well and have been coming to for many years. It feels like I've driven thousands of laps here in my life."
The Frenchman reflected on his long history at the circuit, where he enjoyed some of his earliest successes in junior categories: "I remember the first time I drove a single-seater was in Spain, and one of my first victories was here in Formula Renault. We've also done plenty of testing here as well."
While Monaco produced points, Ocon acknowledged it was not a straightforward weekend for the team and hopes for a cleaner run in Spain: "Monaco wasn't easy for us as a team, so we're looking forward to a more straightforward weekend without issues and hopefully score some more points."
Ahead of Round 7 in Barcelona, Bearman is P11, with Ocon P16, with Haas P7 in the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship standings.
