If ever there was a rollercoaster Formula 1 weekend, the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix was it. Bittersweet never had it so good…
The Tifosi certainly had it all over the weekend, unexpected joy followed by disappointment. There were aspects of China we will remember forever. And much as there were others we’d never want to of our beloved Ferrari.
Red Mist asked a week earlier: How the hell did that happen? Now, after the Shanghai antics, we’re still asking the same question, and adding: What the hell went wrong with our beloved Ferrari?
It started well enough in China. And we thought it ended well too. In the middle, it was brilliant. Lewis’ pace in Sprint qualifying was spectacular. In the race, especially at the end of the Sprint, mesmeric.
Best of all, he’s won. He’s shut ‘them’ up. If his late-Sprint speed in the heat is anything to go by, us Tifosi must pray for it hot. Every race. Ginetto showed what
the Cavallino pays for on Saturday. All we want is more of that.
Charles’ sprint was a bit of a concern. He seemed lost. And then qualifying for the main race. WTF? How could there be so a big difference? Is temperature and wear going to play that big a role on the SF-25? Time will tell.
The Grand Prix was disappointing. After Saturday [for Tifosi]
The main race seemed good enough. Disappointing after Saturday, but still. We must question why our men keep crashing into each other. Even if, this time, that damage seemed to suit Shanghai’s quaint traits. We gambled with Lewis. We lost.
But we took decent points home. Or so we thought. When a karting kid is underweight, we think, shame, poor kid. His dad got it wrong. When Leclerc is underweight. Even after the FIA adjusted to compensate for the missing parts. We have to think, what the hell?
How many people does the Scuderia employ? Could all of them really have got it that wrong? A kilo is a kilo. So there’s nobody to feel sorry for at Maranello. Only to ask, how the hell did you get that right? Disgraceful.
A millimetre is also a millimetre. Just as appalling. Especially after Saturday’s flash in the pan. In Drake’s day, heads would roll. We need more of that. Get your act together, Ferrari!
