Rafael Câmara sealed the 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship with a commanding lights-to-flag win at the Hungaroring, his fourth of the season.

Trident driver Câmara, from Brazil, converted pole into victory and the Formula 3 title with a round to spare, joining Gabriel Bortoleto and Leonardo Fornaroli as the third Trident driver in a row to win the championship.
Campos Racing’s Mari Boya finished second ahead of ART Grand Prix’s Tuukka Taponen, but all eyes were on Câmara, who reflected on a long and hard-fought campaign: “I’m very happy. All the hard work we did all season has paid off. It’s a time where we can finally relax a bit.
"Regardless of if you are losing or winning, you always keep working hard. You never really enjoy the moment. So to finally relax is very good. I feel very tired because it has been a very long journey and now I can enjoy it with the team. They deserve so much.”
“The team was already working hard before the season, even last year. The new car was a big question mark, and how we were going to start the season. After Australia, it was a big relief for me and the team, we knew we were going the right way and now it’s time to enjoy a bit.”

Fast start, strong stats, and staying sharp under pressure

Câmara set the tone early in Australia with a near-perfect weekend and never looked back: “I was never expecting to start how we did. After Australia, I knew we were in a good place. I just needed to keep myself always in a good spot with the team and with myself. As a rookie I think it was a very good year, and I’ll try to focus now for Monza and finish on a high.”
The Brazilian’s stats reflect his dominance: four wins, five podiums, five pole positions and four fastest laps. He credited his qualifying strength as a key weapon: “Understanding where the limit is and being fast straight away is a strong point on my side.
"Every time on the first runs, we already had good pace. When you start with good pace, it’s much easier to set up what the car needs. It’s also more simple for what you need to do each run, and I think that’s why quali has been so strong," added Câmara.
Despite leading the standings since Round 1, Câmara said the title fight never felt secure. “Everything can change so quickly. I was fighting with different drivers each weekend. You just have to make sure you are always in the right mindset. I always try to keep it clean, do a good job, don’t get involved in any crashes and be consistent.”
Camara admitted that luck played its part, too: “We had a bit of luck along the way, like Austria with Tsolov’s disqualification, but Spa was unlucky for us because we couldn’t race. That’s how it goes. A championship is always tricky. You never know what will happen.”

Asked about what sets Trident apart, Câmara pointed to the team’s culture and preparation: “The engineers work almost every day. That makes us drivers more calm, more confident. My group is the same that Gabi had last year. Since the post-season test I already had a very good feeling. Even then, we were fast.”
Câmara’s title makes it three F3 championships in a row for Trident, and he praised the people behind his success: “The team is pretty much like a family. Everyone’s been together more than 10 years. I’m very thankful for everything they’ve done for me—my Team Manager Giacomo, my engineer Andrea, my mechanics. It was super nice to work with them. For sure I’ll miss them next year. It was such a great season.”
Looking ahead, Câmara confirmed his step up: “After Monza, it will be Formula 2 next year. Then there will be a big break until the tests. I’ll just focus on myself to make sure that I’m well prepared. Hopefully, I can have another strong season.”
Before turning the page, a short break awaits. “Next will be a bit of holiday. Enjoy Brazil with my family and friends. It’s good to win one round in advance because finally, we can relax. I’m just happy to enjoy this with everyone who made it possible.”
