Max Verstappen opted to stay in Europe this week while most of the Formula 1 paddock gathered in New York for the premiere of the new F1 movie, instead testing an Aston Martin at Spa-Francorchamps on Tuesday.

The four-time Formula 1 World Champion was filmed driving an Aston Martin GT car at the Belgian circuit, in footage that surfaced online. His appearance comes shortly after a private Ferrari GT3 test earlier this month at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where he used the alias "Franz Hermann" to keep his identity under wraps.
Verstappen explained the choice of pseudonym as wanting to make it “as German as we can” for the occasion. His clothing label Verstappen.com later capitalised on the moment, launching a Franz Hermann-themed merchandise line that quickly sold out. The brand confirmed via Instagram that new limited-edition items have now been released following high demand.
While declining the New York premiere, Verstappen cited a preference to remain near family. Verstappen will now shift his focus back to Formula 1, with the Austrian Grand Prix taking place next weekend at the Red Bull Ring.
His team's home track has been a happy hunting ground for the Dutchman, who has won there four times. He will be aiming to add a fifth victory as he looks to close the gap to championship leader Oscar Piastri.
Following the Canadian Grand Prix, Verstappen sits third in the 2025 F1 standings behind both McLaren drivers - Piastri and Lando Norris - with race winner George Russell closing in from fourth.
