Sergio Perez will leave Red Bull Racing and Liam Lawson will be the driver to replace him alongside Max Verstappen for the 2025 Formula 1 season.
The Mexican driver has struggled to perform for the most of the 2024 season despite starting in strong form bagging four podiums in the first five races.
As knowledgeable source has informed GrandPrix247 that Perez has agreed the terms of the separation with Red Bull Racing having had a contract to race with the team in 2025.
The writing was on the wall regarding Perez's future following the
2024 F1 season finale in Abu Dhabi, but it took time for the legal part to be sorted as well as deciding which driver within the Red Bull pool would replace him.
As our source informed us, it would be Lawson and not Yuki Tsunoda who has been with the Racing Bulls for more seasons and took part in the post season test in Abu Dhabi following the race last week.
Isack Hadjar will be replacing Lawson at RB in 2025, the Formula 2 driver having taken part in
FP1 in Abu Dhabi with Red Bull.
Despite the split being amicable, Perez will not be associated with Red Bull in the future and will pursue other opportunities in the future, according to out source.
While Max Verstappen successfully defended his F1 crown, Red Bull failed to do the same with their constructors' title and finished third behind champions McLaren and runners up Ferrari.
The formal announcement is understood to be imminent, by Wednesday probably.
