Fred Vasseur, who gave Carlos Sainz his marching order from Ferrari commented on the Spanish Formula 1 driver's Williams contract announced on Monday.

Carlos Sainz will be a Williams driver for the 2025 and 2026 F1 seasons. That is the conclusion of months of speculation surrounding the outgoing Ferrari driver's future.
After being linked to several teams since his departure from Ferrari was announced, including Mercedes, Audi-Sauber, Williams and most recently Alpine, after all that, Sainz decided to join Williams.
It was a long shot for the Grove-based F1 team to secure the signature of Sainz, but James Vowles, who is leading a major rebuilding process of the team, has delivered and brought in the highly rated driver into the fold.
After Williams confirmed Sainz's contract, Vasseur issued a statement commenting on the announcement, he said: "I am pleased that Carlos will be joining Williams Racing from next season.
"It's a team with a great history and legacy, founded by an enlightened man with an ambitious vision, so I know Carlos will feel at home there.
I have great respect for James and I am sure Carlos will make a valuable contribution to his team," the Frenchman insisted.
However, Sainz still has ten grands prix to contest as a Ferrari driver, Vasseur added: "For now, Carlos is still very much a Ferrari driver.
"Over the remaining ten races we will all be working hard, focusing on our goals, fighting together for every single point until the very last lap of this championship," he concluded.
Sainz joined Ferrari in 2021 replacing Sebastian Vettel. Since then he has accumulated five pole positions and three wins for the team.
By the time Sainz ends his Ferrari at the end of the 2024 F1 season, he would have competed in 88 grands prix for the Reds.
