drivers f1 2024 group photo formula 1

It’s been something of a strange Formula 1 ‘Silly Season’ in that the start saw each of the ten teams continuing with the same drivers that they had at the end of 2023, but that all changed when Lewis Hamilton made his shock announcement that he would be leaving Mercedes for Ferrari at the end of the year.

This quickly started the Formula One rumour mill into overdrive, and now it looks like something of an open season in terms of which drivers will end up where next season. So if you were to go to a resource like esportsbetting.com in the next F1 season, you might face a very different selection of drivers in relation to their teams. Here is a rough guide to what you can expect:

Red Bull

No surprises for guessing that Max Verstappen looks extremely likely to stick it out at Red Bull. The ongoing scandal at Red Bull looks to be settling and the Dutch driver is expected to continue his dominance of the sport next time around. Once again the Mexican driver, Sergio Perez will join him at Red Bull, and it’s anybody’s guess if and when anyone can catch up to this formidable pairing.

Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton’s jump from Mercedes to Ferrari was one of the sporting stories of the year and it’s going to be fascinating to see how he handles his new team. Charles Leclerc will certainly be looking to continue his good form at the Italian racing team in the next campaign.

McLaren

The triumph of Lando Norris in Miami could have signalled a sea change in Formula 1 as it points to both McLaren and the British driver being in the ascendancy. Oscar Piastri will be expecting to join Norris as they bid to push McLaren higher up the Constructors’ standings.

Mercedes

The downward slump of Mercedes has been dramatic, but they will be looking to maintain some consistency through the driving talents of George Russell next time around. However, they could inject new blood by adding Kimi Antonelli to the team following the youngster’s success for Prema Racing in Formula 2.

Aston Martin

At the age of 42, Fernando Alonso is showing no signs of slowing down and he is expected to put in another solid season for Aston Martin, alongside Lance Stroll.

VCARB

Yuki Tsunoda has already picked up a decent 14 points for RB this season, and he is expected to stick around for another campaign. However, with the ongoing controversy over Daniel Ricciardo, we could be seeing Liam Lawson being a full time driver for RB for the next season.

Haas

It seems that Esteban Ocon isn’t too happy at Alpine and he will be expected to jump ship to Haas at the end of the campaign. Similarly, there could be the arrival of Oliver Bearman from Formula 2 at Haas.

Alpine

If Ocon goes to Haas, it would leave the door open for Jack Doohan to be promoted from his reserve driver position. We’d expect Pierre Gasley to stay at Alpine despite the fact that he has yet to pick up any points this campaign.

Williams

It’s rumoured that Valtteri Bottas could be set to jump ship from Sauber at the end of the season where he might join Alex Albon at Williams.

Sauber

Finally, it’s not too hard to imagine Nico Hulkenberg switching from Hass to come to Sauber to take Bottas’ position. While there are rumours that Carlos Sainz could be set to leave Ferrari, it remains to be seen whether the driver would be happy to come to Sauber.
