From the outset, it was Max Verstappen versus McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris at Imola. The young Aussie ran the Red Bull ace close in Qualifying but was penalised for impeding. He did well to recover a place to finish P3.

At the front, the Imola podium trio started just as they ended. Verstappen P1, with Norris P2 and Charles Leclerc P2 for Ferrari. Stalemate from the moment the lights went out to start the 31st Grand Prix at Imola.

Norris and Verstappen stole the show as the Red Bull driver did not simply run away with the race. Norris kept him within six to eight seconds range. Then keep the best for last, reeling in the World Champion at about half a second per lap, but the McLaren man ran out of laps. Max won again, but he had to sweat big time for it.

Meanwhile, Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull was nowhere, as were the Mercedes duo and a wayward Fernando Alonso.
