Formula 1 break silence over Horner Red Bull investigation

Horner takes a dig at Hamilton's rule change proposal

Formula 1 have finally broken their silence over the internal investigation Red Bull have started to look into Christian Horner who is allegedly accused of “inappropriate behavior”.

Red Bull announced, two weeks ago, that Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner was under internal investigation following a complaint by a female employee of the team accusing the Briton of “inappropriate behavior”.

Horner has since strongly denied these accusations, and was subject to an internal hearing a few days after the investigation  – carried out by an independent barrister – was announced.

The Red Bull Racing boss has been going on with his job and CEO and Team Principal as usual, even attending he launch of the team’s 2024 F1 car, the RB20, on February 15.

During the launch he was asked about the investigation and he insisted on his innocence regarding the alleged accusation by the female employee of “incredibly controlling behavior”.

While the team boss did not give an exact date as to when the investigation will be concluded, he hoped it would not take long as the team gears up to contest the 2024 F1 season and defend his Title double.

Ford, Red Bull’s engine partner from 2026 said it was too early to comment on the Horner situation, but insisted they hold themselves – being a family company – and their partners to the highest standards.

Now Formula 1 have finally issued a statement commenting on the Horner investigation, it said: “We have noted Red Bull has instigated an independent investigation into internal allegations at Red Bull Racing.

“We hope matter will be clarified at earliest opportunity, after a fair and thorough process. Will not comment further at this time,” Formula 1 concluded.

The Horner investigation has caused quite a stir in the F1 community, with speculation regarding a power struggle between the boss of the racing team and the Red Bull management in Austria.

Other rumors have talked about a rift between Horner and Red Bull Racing’s triple F1 Champion, Max Verstappen and his father Jos.

Verstappen insisted during the RB20 launch that his relationship with his boss is as normal as it ever was.

Red Bull are now getting ready for pre-season testing in Bahrain on Wednesday, February 21, with the first race of the season set on March 2 in Bahrain.
