Williams have hired Paul Asencio from mixed martial arts company UFC as chief revenue officer overseeing the Formula 1 team’s commercial and marketing operations, they said on Thursday.
Asencio, who also worked previously for the New York Mets in Major League Baseball, will join on Monday and be based in the team’s New York office.
“Formula One is on a massive growth trajectory and I’m happy to be a part of it,” he said in a statement.
The sport has three grands prix in the United States this season and Williams are owned by U.S.-based private investment firm Dorilton Capital.
They also have the sport’s sole current U.S. driver in rookie Logan Sargeant.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Williams Racing,” Paul shared. “Formula 1 is on a massive growth trajectory and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Based in the team’s New York office, Paul arrives at Williams Racing after more than five years at UFC as Senior Vice President, Global Partnerships, where he was responsible for commercialising all revenue streams.
Prior to UFC, he fulfilled senior business development and corporate partnership roles at Fanatics and Major League Baseball side, the New York Mets.
Matthew Savage, Chairman of the Board, Williams Racing, is pleased to welcome Paul to the team, adding: “As we continue the transformation of Williams Racing, we are delighted to welcome Paul to reinforce our marketing and commercial team.
