Ricciardo still not well enough to drive in Bahrain

Ricciardo still not well enough to drive in BahrainDaniel Ricciardo seems to be still ill and unable to driver on Day 2 of the 2022 Formula 1 pre-season test in Bahrain.

The Aussie was supposed to be on driving duty in the MCL36 on Thursday, but the team announced he was ill, and his teammate Lando Norris covered for him in the cockpit, the Briton finishing the test sixth fastest, with only 49 laps on the board as the team battled with brake issues all day long.

Ricciardo was supposed to be back in the car today, but McLaren announced that the Honey Badger is still not feeling well enough to drive despite slightly improving.

The team said that they will “continue to assess” Ricciardo before he gets back behind the wheel, and confirmed that he had undergone several Covid-19 tests which all turned out negative.

As such Lando Norris will continue to fill in for his teammate until he is deemed fit enough to drive.

Daniel Ricciardo is on his second year with McLaren, and after having a tough debut 2021 with them, he would have been hoping for better in 2022, so this lack of running will definitely hurt his preparations for the upcoming season, with cockpit time in these new-for-2022 cars an all important factor in getting well prepared.
