Esteban Ocon does not feel like there is any favouritism towards either him or teammate Fernando Alonso within the Alpine team.

Two-time world champion Alonso returned to Formula 1 over the off-season and has impressed, while Ocon secured his first victory in F1 last time out at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

After 11 races, the team sit fifth in the constructors’ championship, although they are way off Ferrari and McLaren ahead of them.

Asked about the relationships within the team and his partnership with Alonso, Ocon said that both drivers contribute equally and share the same goal of improving the car.

“I don’t feel that one side of the garage is preferred to the other,” he said.

“The team trusts me, even in difficult times. I am very grateful for that. I don’t see any difference from the start of the season. The engineers listen to me. It’s not like Fernando’s feedback and mine are completely opposite, and one wants something completely different from the car than the other.

“If that were the case, the team would build two parts. That’s the philosophy.”
