Sports betting is – alongside gambling – probably one of the oldest pastime activities many individuals indulge in on a regular basis.

With so many different sports out there, the betting options seem to be on the rise. Football, basketball and horse racing seem to be some of the well-known options. But did you know that F1 betting is also extremely popular?

With so many different F1 drivers and teams competing for the title, F1 betting has become more appealing than ever. Not only does it offer great entertainment but experienced bettors need to constantly stay in the loop with what’s going on with their favorite teams and drivers, in order to be able to make good calculated decisions later on. So, with that in mind, let’s see which are some of the best and most popular F1 drivers to bet on this season.

2021 confirmed drivers and teams

Before we go any deeper into detail about some of the most popular F1 drivers, let’s first see all the drivers and teams competing for this year’s title. Driving for Alfa Romeo-Ferrari we have Kimi Räikkönen and Antonion Giovinazzi. Behind the wheel of AlphaTauri-Honda, we have Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda.

Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso will be driving for Alpine-Renault, while Aston Martin-Mercedes has signed Sebastien Vettel and Lance Stroll. Driving for Ferrari, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. will have the chance to showcase their skills. Behind the wheel of Haas-Ferrari we’ll get a chance to see Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher.

Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris will be driving for McLaren-Mercedes, while Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton will get behind the wheel for Mercedes. Driving for Red Bull Racing-Honda we’ll see Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

And finally, Williams-Mercedes signed the deal with Nicholas Latifi and George Russell.

Hamilton signs a one-year deal with Mercedes

It was confirmed by the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team that Lewis Hamilton officially signed a one-year deal with Mercedes for the 2021 Formula 1 season. 2013 was the year that Lewis first joined a team. Since then, he managed to secure 6 titles behind the wheel of a Silver Arrow.

Now, Hamilton will try and compete for his eight title which – if he wins – will make him the best Formula 1 driver in history. This is great news for anyone looking for good sports betting options, as currently he is neck to neck with the F1 legend Michael Schumacher at 7 titles won.

Aside from signing the deal, Hamilton and Mercedes are also partnering up for a charitable foundation that has a goal of diversifying the motorsports industry.

Sergio Perez signs a deal with Red Bull

Next, it’s worth mentioning that Alex Albon will no longer be Max Verstappen’s team-mate for 2021. Instead, Sergio Perez will be taking his place. This is great news for Perez who scored his first ever F1 victory at Sakhir Grand Prix. Previously, Perez was dropped from his drive at Racing Point mid-season to make room for Sebastian Vettel.

However, it has been rumored that this season will determine whether or not Perez will remain a Red Bull driver for the next season. According to Christian Horner, it all depends on his delivery this season. One thing’s for sure – there will be many fans rooting for Perez and we can only wait and see what the future has in store for him.

Alfa Romeo still with Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi

The team sponsored by none other than Alfa Romeo won’t be changing their drivers for the third year in a row. 41-year-old Kimi Räikkönen will still be racing for the title this season, especially after displaying some very interesting performance in 2020.

Antonio Giovinazzi will also return for the 2021 season. And although this may be a surprise for some, but his 2-year-long consistency is what landed him this spot. Last year he managed to match his well-respected tam-mate’s point score which is no small deal, especially if we consider his age.

Pierre Gasly, Yuki Tsunoda and AlphaTauri

Pierre Gasly has been confirmed for the 2021 team, but the second seat has been open up until December. Even though Russian Daniil Kvyatt was filling this position up until then, it was speculated that he will no longer continue to drive for Formula 1.

And these speculations were confirmed when Yuki Tsunoda stepped up into F1. Tsunoda landed 3 victories in 2020, also finishing third in Formula 2.

Alpine, Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon

In 2021 Renault became Alpine, lost their star driver Daniel Ricciardo. Esteban Ocon will, however, remain for his second season and will team up with Fernando Alonso instead.

After a two-year break, it will be interesting to see how Alonso will approach this return. Will he be eager to return as the team leader, or will his approach be more low-key? It’s yet to be seen.

Betting on Formula 1 leaves plenty of room entertainment and fun. Not only are there various things people can bet on, but there are also interesting changes happening within teams every season.
