Rosberg: Dark time for Vettel but don’t write him off

While Nico Rosberg is baffled by the current form of Sebastian Vettel, the 2016 Formula 1 World Champion turned video vlogger-pundit believes the Ferrari driver will bounce back.

Much has been written about the free fall of Vettel during the past year, coinciding with the sharp rise of Charles Leclerc within the Italian team. The 32-year-old German has not won a Grand Prix in over a year, and since the beginning of this season has been shown up by his decade younger teammate.

Reflecting on the Italian Grand Prix, Rosberg told Sky F1, “Vettel is unexplainable for me – I can’t explain it. He is a four-time world champion, he is one of the best guys out there and to make a mistake like that, on your own, just spinning the car like that in a corner, is so strange.”

“This moment must be so dark for him. His teammate just became an absolute Ferrari legend and has taken the number-one status in the team, probably, from him.”

“[But] Vettel is one of those guys who have lots of self-confidence, so that is going to help him a lot through this. And in F1, it’s so short-lived that it just takes one race, one really powerful race and you’re back!”

“We shouldn’t write him off because he can come back very quick – but it’s not an easy one,” added Rosberg.

Big Question: Will Seb bounce back at Ferrari to challenge Charles?
