Sebastien Buemi had a seat fitting with Toro Rosso on Wednesday at the team’s Faenza headquarters fueling speculation that he will return to the team in 2019.
Toro Rosso revealed on Twitter:

Helmut Marko revealed earlier this week that there are ten drivers in contention for the seat vacated by Pierre Gasly’s promotion to the senior team, while Brendon Hartley’s future with remains uncertain. Buemi clearly a serious candidate now.
The 2015-2016 Formula E champion of the 2015-2016 season is still under contract with Red Bull, as team reserve, and it is possible that the highly-rated Swiss driver will do an FP1 session or two in the seven races that remain in the championship.
Since his final of 55 races in Formula 1, Buemi has had a very successful career in WEC where he spearheaded their 2018 Le Mans victory with Toyota Gazoo Racing where he shared the winning car with Fernando Alonso and Kazuki Nakajima.
