Lewis Hamilton ended the final free practice of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, indeed the last one of this season, with the top time ahead of Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas as the Silver Arrows flexed their muscles on a windy day at Yas Marina Circuit.
Hamilton’s best lap time of 1:37.627 was a quarter of a second faster than Bottas, with the Ferrari duo of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel third and fourth respectively albeit half a second shy of the benchmark lap time.
Daniel Ricciardo was fastest of the Red Bull drivers in fifth, a quarter of a second faster than teammate Max Verstappen in sixth who was almost a second down on the best lap time.
McLaren again showed handy pace with Fernando Alonso seventh and Stoffel Vandoorne eighth in the one-hour session.
Fastest of the Renault powered brigade (excluding the Red Bull’s) was Carlos Sainz in ninth, ahead of Force India’s Sergio Perez who rounded out the top ten.
