Being the reigning Formula 1 World Champion must lift a weight of any man’s shoulders, and Nico Rosberg looks to be enjoying it immensely
Since lifting the most prestigious title in motorsport, and subsequently retiring from racing, Rosberg seems like a man completely at ease at where he is in life. And who can blame him.
Setting off within the Bernie Ecclestone celebration F1 procession, Rosberg let loose on the donuts, providing a free spot of garden landscaping for Lord March. It was a spectacular display which left the crowds and Goodwood Festival of Speed team covered in topsoil and rubber. But they loved it!
Rosberg has remained close to Mercedes since he quit and is still one of its ambassadors. He also made an appearance in the paddock at the Monaco Grand Prix last month.
As part of the annual showcase at Goodwood, Rosberg drove the W05 car that won both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships in 2014 and took the German driver to second place in the drivers’ standings that year.
Rosberg told fans at the end of the day, “Thank you all for being so supportive and for all coming out today. What an amazing day. For me it was great fun, good memories with my old car going up the hill. I gave it everything this time, absolutely flat out.
“It’s been special to come here today because I’ve been here eight times even, and it’s my first time back here as world champion. That’s amazing,” added the 2016 F1 World Champion.
