Jacques Villeneuve has likened Nico Rosberg’s approach to racing in Formula 1 to that of French legend Alain Prost, a four times world champion.
Speaking to Auto Bild Villeneuve, Lewis was perhaps a bit faster throughout the season, but he also made more mistakes. Rosberg has been more consistent.”
Since his last victory at Suzuka, Rosberg has only needed to finish behind his title rival and teammate Lewis Hamilton. Ahead of the season finale Abi Dhabi Grand Prix, the same applies as the German leads the standings by 12 points.
Although Rosberg is keen to seal his first F1 world title with a victory, he know only too well that he only needs to finish behind Hamilton to do the business as well and with far less risk.
“If Prost needed to win he would risk a little more, if not he just targeted the position he needed without risk,” said Villeneuve who himself was 1997 F1 world champion.
“If his car has no mechanical failures and he survives Turn 1, then he has the world championship in his pocket,” predicted Villeneuve.
