Grosjean: No way would I say no to Ferrari

Romain Grosjean was reportedly on Ferrari’s shortlist until the Italian team decided to extend Kimi Raikkonen’s contract, but the Frenchman says he is not perturbed by missing out on one of the most coveted seats in Formula 1.

Haas driver, Grosjean told media in Hungary, “I’m sure there’s a reason behind the decision [to keep Raikkonen]. With the new regulations, big changes, you kind of want to keep the same driver line-up.”

“I’m very happy here [at Haas]. Yes, if there’s a chance to go to Ferrari there’s no way I would say no. That’s a team I’ve loved since I was eight years old. I want to be a world champion and I think that’s where you get a good shot at it, so we’ll see.”

“We are doing a great job and I really want to put Haas on the podium at one point. So there’s some work to do to achieve that but who knows? Everything is possible.”

When asked if he felt he was still a candidate for a move to Maranello in the future, the Frenchman replied, “I don’t know. I know that I’ve got the Ferrari engine, I work with Ferrari engineers and they know how I work.”

“I know I’ve been on the podium a few times in my career which always helps to go to a big team. After that I hope I am but I don’t know.

“You need to be in a good time in a good place, sometimes it never happens and you may never have the chance. As I said, here is a great experience, I don’t regret anything from changing teams and I really feel very good here.”

“I think I’ve got quite an important role in the team and for me in terms of experience and in terms of career it’s a great thing.”

Haas has not yet confirmed either Grosjean or teammate Esteban Gutierrez for next season.
