Feb.17 (Red Bull) On Thursday night Red Bull Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey was inducted into the Motor Sport Hall of Fame in London.
Newey joins the likes of Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Sir Jackie Stewart OBE and Sir Stirling Moss. Newey was particularly pleased to be amongst such esteemed company.
He said: “It’s very special to me. If I look at the people who have been inducted so far, it’s a real who’s who of motor racing – heroes who I’ve looked up to through the years, and to now be part of that group is very special.”
Team Principal Christian Horner was pleased that the recognition had gone to someone who is a talented designer and a great person to work with.
Horner said: “It’s great to see Adrian recognised through all his activities and success in motorsport, and it is thoroughly deserved. And, more than that, he’s genuinely a super-nice guy and deserving of all the accolades which are given to him. Of course he has a great team working with him, but his track record is almost unparalleled in motorsport.”
Also inducted this year was 1964 world champion John Surtees, the only man to have won world titles in motorcycling and Formula One.
