Respectful Ricciardo looking forward to learning 28 January, 2014 Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel in the Jerez pitlane Daniel Ricciardo’s ever present smile was as big as ever on the first day of testing at the Jerez circuit in Spain, where he was on hand to launch the Red Bull RB10. He revealed that he is “very excited” to be teammate to quadruple World Champion Sebastian Vettel. Ricciardo, who was promoted from Toro Rosso to Red Bull, told the media, “I’m really excited to be alongside Seb this year. He has achieved so much in so little time. To be a four-time World Champion, no matter what the circumstances, is an amazing thing.” Ricciardo got the break of his career at the end of last season when fellow Australian Mark Webber decided to call time on F1, and Red Bull chose him above Jean Eric Vergne to step up into the vacated cockpit. Ricciardo added, “I have a lot of respect for that and a lot of respect for him. I am just really looking forward to learning as much as I can and hopefully challenging him. Of course, I want to try to get some success. But to do that first of all I have to respect him and then go forward from there.” Ricciardo will get his turn in the Adrian Newey penned RB10 on the two final days of testing at Jerez.
