McLaren has adamantly played down speculation Kimi Raikkonen might be in the running to return to the British team in 2014.

The 2007 world champion was already linked with Lotus, Red Bull and Ferrari, but at Spa-Francorchamps Jenson Button made it known that the option on his contract for 2014 is yet to be activated by McLaren.

And Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport said McLaren is also yet to take up the option on Sergio Perez’s contract.

Boss Martin Whitmarsh, however, is quoted as saying: “I don’t think Kimi is coming to us.

“We want to continue with Jenson, and, after the year we’ve had, Sergio deserves another chance.”

Finn Raikkonen, 33, drove for McLaren between 2002 and 2006, before switching to Ferrari. (GMM)

Sergeo deserves another chance? For what exactly? I think those he forces off the road and calls it a legitimate overtaking manoeuvre need another chance away from that nutter.

Sergio does deserve another chance… This year you provided him a car that can’t even get on pole and can’t even get on the podium..

  • Stoner

Sergio needs to be kicked out of formula 1

Sergio deserves another chance (read: TELMEX deserves another chance!)

Sergio should be compared in performance with Jenson, and i think he is giving the fight.

Well… to those Sergio haters, he’s done a lot more than Jenson this season. Quali and race, he deserves another chance and a better car.

you do know that jenson is an average driver… everyone is doing better than him
