Boozed up Raikkonen told friends he would wear red next year

Kimi Raikkonen’s future uncertain

Sport Bild has reported that Kimi Raikkonen admitted to friends during an booze fueled party night out in Helsinki that he will be wearing red again in 2014.

Also reporting about the Helsinki party, broadcaster RTL suggested Ferrari has put a € 11 million contract on the table for Raikkonen to consider, including bonuses and sponsorship of his motocross team.

However with the silly season in high gear, there are conflicting reports.

Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat is now quoting Raikkonen’s manager Steve Robertson as saying the driver actually wants to stay at Lotus in 2014.

“Kimi likes it at Lotus,” said Robertson. “But we are waiting for information on certain issues that are still outstanding. About Kimi’s future, the ball is in Lotus’ court.”

Meanwhile, Lotus has made clear it wants to keep the 33-year-old on board, while reports continue to insist that there is a real chance that Raikkonen will return to Ferrari. Watch this space…

Most recently Welt reported that talks between Ferrari and Nico Hulkenberg, about replacing the Brazilian Felipe Massa, have now kicked off.

Raikkonen, no fan of the spotlight, is the man of the moment as Formula 1’s summer slumber ends this weekend in Belgium.

The Finn’s manager has ruled out a move to Red Bull, but some sources at Spa-Francorchamps think the fact the team has put off announcing Daniel Ricciardo’s 2014 deal is a sign that Raikkonen might still be in the running. (GMM)

that a guy from the “Dudesons”!!!!

  • Tamburello_1994

My only take from this “report” is that Kimi can’t handle his drink very well.

  • Butterfly

    Yup! :-)

  • Tamburello_1994

. . . . All Kimi needs is a “Hacky Sack” and he would of fit right in with the “burners” back in the day.

    Party on, dood!

  • realf1fan

Tony Jardine of Sky has gone on Sky sports news saying that he has had information from very good sources that Red Bull are going to make one more try for Kimi hence no announcement at Spa regards the 2014 driver line up.

  • Saša

    Let’s dream big.
Alonso-Kimi-Ferrari-best car on grid in 2014.

It could be better than Prost-Senna-McLarren in 1988.

  • extremis47

I think Lotus will change livery colors to red.

  • Alonso_is_slow

Bad news for Alonso … he will be decimated by Raikkonen in every single session or race

    can wait to see that

  • Jack

Some friends he has! Ratting him out to the media! Those cheeky bastards….

  • Butterfly

I’m not sure, but I believe Ferrari is the only team allowed to have 100% red on the car and overalls. All other cars have a limit of how much red to put on their cars and overalls.

Let’s face it, you want Fernando to be your boyfriend. You’re a homo.

  • hillside

    nice! Kimi and Massa again

  • Mind the Massa

2008, a year after Kimi took his maiden WDC ( while driving a Ferrari with a no.1) didn’t fare too well against a certain Brazilian called Felipe Massa… And now Alonso is doing better than Massa year in year out. You guys do the Math.

  • Butterfly

Some German publication – Welt, I believe – claims that Raikkonen is replacing Massa for next year. Alonso is looking for other options, and if he jumps ship, Hulkenberg may replace him.

So Raikkonen is replacing Massa, and Hulkenberg may replace Alonso.

  • thefan

@butterfly… so are you saying that the alonso to RB deal is over as well and he’s looking elsewhere?

  • Tamburello_1994

That logic isn’t jiving with me Butterfly. Here’s why:

Alonso is under contract. If he’s activating some performance clause to get out of it he’d better have something more than just “Looking for other options” at the ready. I can’t see him breaking a valid Ferrari contract just to on a fishing expedition.

    Option 2:

If Ferrari gave Fernando his walking papers(highly unlikely) and he’s still under contract – They may as well pay him to sit out a year just like they did Raikkonen. Which then “Luca di” would have to come out and admit he made a colossal mistake. (also highly unlikely)

That’s just my take, looking at the situation at 35,000 ft.

  • Butterfly

I haven’t read anything about Fernando since Hungary, so I have no clue what’s going on with him.

Still, Red Bull could still be negotiating with him. We’ll see.

  • Butterfly

There are performance clauses related to the car, things like number of poles & wins. My guess is he could walk away from Ferrari without any issues given how bad that car is and was since 2010.

Right now it’s either Ferrari or Red Bull for 2014, and I’m hoping it’s the latter.

  • el vicepresidente

OK OK I Know the Changes Fernando=redbull
    Kimi =Ferrari
    Massa =Williams
Pastor =FERRARI jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajjajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajjajajajajajajajajajajajajajjsorry jajajajajaja sorry jajajajajajajaj

  • Tamburello_1994

Being that Alonso led the championship for some time last year, I find it hard for him to claim the car is so bad and have any credibility.

Plus, if he does bolt because of the performance, Why would anybody else be in a hurry to replace him?

  • Butterfly

The car had no pole positions in the dry, it registered zero fastest laps during the season. Plus, it was really hard to drive, even after they stiffen the front suspension at Spa.

I doubt “pole positions in the wet” are part of the performance metrics in that contract.

  • Alonso_is_slow

Alonso clearly lost the last season due to his own mistake when he crashed into Raikkonen from behind. No matter that he only had a faster than Red Bull car for half of the season, Ferrari reliability was 2x as good, so he should have won.

He did the same mistake again this year, crashing into Vettel from behind. He had the best car in this race and concluded with 0 points.

If Ferrari wants to win titles, then a faster pilot is needed with less mistakes. Raikkonen is exactly this: he finished in the points practically always since he returned.

  • Butterfly

Then they can hire your retarded a{s}s.

  • Alonso_is_slow

cry more, its sweet. facts make you suffer.

  • Alonso is fast

Alonso is fast. Anyone who says he is not has no idea about F1. All the team principles, the drivers, the commentators and the press said that Alonso’s performance last year was the best. Perhaps one of the best drives ever. They know more than you do because they work in F1.

  • Ankit

I like you cuz you’re an Alonso fan, so am I, but this is just bullshit! There’s no way in hell Alonso is moving out of Ferrari to Red Bull or any other team. If you’ve read other forums and news sites the talks about Alonso to Red Bull were deemed as rumours and will not happen. Also today Alonso was interviewed at Spa and asked about whether he was serious about a move to Red Bull and he answered no, he isn’t going anywhere. So i think we all should quit speculating so much about this since it isn’t going to happen!
What COULD happen is a Raikkonen to Ferrari move. I’m not discounting that at all and that’s the only credible news’ result I’m awaiting. Everything else is just plain nonsense!

  • Butterfly

    Crying, you say?

I just called you a retard. I also called you a ho{mo} in one of the previous posts!

    You really are retarded. :-)

Have a f{uck}ing nice day. LOL

  • Markus

Oww. . . I thought he will be wearing RED bull next year. =) ahahaha!

  • Tamburello_1994

    “My guess is. . . .”

That’s your mistake right there, Butterfly, Is that your guessing.

I’ve heard that refrain from you about 50,000 times this month already.

Stop trying to create a narrative and just wait to see what’s the deal.

    Just some FRIENDLY advice.
