Williams committed to Maldonado amid turmoil 16 July, 2013 Pastor Maldonado Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams insists the Grove based team is committed to Pastor Maldonado. Amid the British team’s performance struggle in 2013, it has been rumoured Maldonado could take his PDVSA sponsor millions to Lotus at the end of the season. But Maldonado’s situation regarding his backing by the state-owned oil and gas company is also unclear, in the wake of the political turmoil following the death earlier this year of Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. When asked about Maldonado’s status in light of the political situation in Venezuela, Williams answered: “He is a great driver.” “He’s doing a great job for the team,” Williams’ deputy team boss told El Confidencial newspaper, “and we are committed to him.” (GMM) Tweet Related NewsWilliams appoint Nielsen as sporting managerMassa: I hope we can fight for the title in 2015Williams scoops another Lotus sponsorWilliams and Avanade announce new partnershipWilliams confirm Wolff as test driver for 2015Cash strapped Lotus lose sponsor to WilliamsWilliams announces new partnership with RexonaWilliams: Next year is about taking the fight to MercedesWilliams celebrate best finish for 11 yearsGlock says Williams duo are Rosberg’s best hope for title =El Presidente= It is a petty that all the bottom half teams have half-baked result mainly oof their half-baked drivers.. Maldonado, chilton, v/d Garde (sorry giedo) Bottas, Pic.. they’re all not exactly the creme-de-la-creme to F1-standards.. especially drivers like Maldonado who costs the same in damages as he brings in sponsormoney. Bottas is a lot better then Crashtor, but does not have that final glimmer thats needed to win a WDC, but a steady and decent 2nd driver. Psych4191 Presidente, Including Maldonado and Bottas with Pic, Chilton, and VDG is absolutely ignorant. Maldonado has matured a lot this season, and he’s showing pretty good pace. He deserves to be there. Bottas is the next flying fin. That’s the tippy top of the “creme-de-la-creme”. You can’t really judge either Pastor or Bottas in this season’s Williams, as it’s a heap of dog turds. The next top echelon of drivers is pretty obviously guys like Bottas, Hulkenburg, and maybe even Bianchi. hahahaha C’mon Pastor (won a race against Alonso in a direct fight), Jules and Bottas (pole position? mr. president!) deserve to be in F1. They are in the same league as the hulk.
