Fire breaks out in Williams pit garage at Nurburgring 6 July, 2013 Fire gutted the Williams pit garage in Barcelona after the 2012 Spanish GP Williams team have reported that fire broke up in their pit garage in the early hours of the morning, at Nurburgring. In a brief email statement Williams reported: “At 08.30 this morning the Williams F1 Team suffered a KERS failure on Pastor Maldonado’s car. The car was in the garage at the time. The resulting smoke was contained quickly and efficiently by the team and circuit fire marshals. No personnel were injured.” “The team are currently investigating the cause of the failure, and assessing any further damage to Pastor’s car. More information will be released once the team are in a position to do so.” Last year, a few hours after Maldonado’s victory at the Spanish Grand Prix the team also suffered a huge fire that gutted their pit garages at the time.
