Giedo van der Garde has dismissed reports that he could be set to lose his 2013 Caterham seat to former team driver Heikki Kovalainen.

We reported at the weekend that it was possible Finn Kovalainen, back in the paddock at Silverstone as a reserve driver, could now return to Caterham’s race lineup, at Dutchman van der Garde’s expense.

“Nothing has been agreed, so do not try to guess,” Kovalainen told Finland’s Turun Sanomat newspaper at Silverstone.

But 28-year-old van der Garde dismissed the speculation, in conversation with the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

“There are always rumours,” he said. “I know where they are coming from, but I also know that I have a watertight contract for the rest of this season.”

De Telegraaf acknowledged, however, that in the wake of van der Garde’s dismal race in Canada, where he was penalised by the FIA for collisions, Caterham team owner Tony Fernandes was in contact with Kovalainen. (GMM)

yeah,yeah,yeah.. if teams start changing their PAY-drivers for every little mistake -and thus take out the money again- teams like CTH/WILLIAMS/MARUSSIA/SAUBER don’t excist anymore.

Those teams excist by the grace of payed drivers. van der Garde’s father inlaw arranged a nice 10million EURO.. (i would estimate a rough 25% of their annual budget) Kovelainen brings only some XP.. and his XP is decreasing in value, every race he is not racing.

Guido van der Garde is not doing a bad job either. He is a full season behind in XP to his teammate C.Pic, and Pic always gets the better parts each time.
Ok -dispite being Dutch myself- i don’t feel we a future WDC on our hands with v/d Garde, but it is not like he is fuccking up.
