In the aftermath of Mark Webber’s announcement that he will quit Formula 1 at the end of 2013, a number of candidates have emerged as possible replacements, top of the list are Toro Rosso pair Daniel Ricciardo and Jean Eric Vergne and as a result they have been thrust in the limelight at Silverstone.

But for French rookie Vergne he simply “cannot think about the prospect” of being promoted to the Red Bull team, “Obviously in my session they (journalists) all wanted to know my feelings about Mark’s announcement and my prospects of taking his seat for 2014 and to each person I gave the same answer: I can’t think about it.”

Vergne added, “That might sound bland but it’s absolutely true. Red Bull Racing is a team I would love to race for. Red Bull gave me the chance to be in F1 and the opportunity to make what I love doing my career, which is fantastic. To race for the people that gave me that opportunity would be amazing but as well as that, to race against a world champion who has the best car would be even more amazing.”

“It would be a dream to race for them but it genuinely is something I cannot give any thought to at the moment,” repeated the 23 year old. (GP247)
