Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber are known to be mates on and off track, and when asked about the Australian’s decision to quit Formula 1 at the end of 2013 the Spaniard said he believed that it was the riht moment to move.
Speaking at Silverstone ahead of the Birtish GP weekend, Alonso said, “Mark has picked the right time. This is a good opportunity for him, moving to drive for a very prestigious car brand to compete in the most famous motor race in the world [Le Mans].”
“He will still enjoy being in the cockpit, but maybe he will have less stress to deal with out of it,” added Alonso. (GP247)
