Tribunal gives Red Bull the clarity they sought about in season testing 21 June, 2013 Christian Horner Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says that he has clarity after an FIA tribunal found that Mercedes breached regulations when they undertook a ‘secret’ test with Pirelli after the Spanish GP. In a statement published on the team’s website, Horner said of the verdict, “The Tribunal had all the facts presented to them in a fair manner yesterday and made their decision. We raised the protest as we wanted clarity on whether you are allowed to test in-season with a current car, as we believe [that] this was a breach of the regulations.” In answering the question; did you get that clarity through the decision of the International Tribunal? Horner said, “Yes – it was decided that Mercedes breached the sporting regulations and the International Sporting Code.” As for the penalty the world champion team boss was pragmatic in his response, “It is always preferential to test with race drivers rather than test drivers; however the penalty is not for us to decide. It was for the tribunal to decide and they have made their decision.” (GP247) Subbed by AJN.
