McLaren launch Spanish versions of digital media 21 June, 2013 Sergio Perez has opened a whole new fanbase for McLaren Vodafone McLaren Mercedes have launched a Spanish language version of the team’s official website – engaging millions of Spanish-speakers and underlining Vodafone McLaren Mercedes’ commitment to creating an increasingly accessible, dynamic and engaging digital presence. The Spanish site – es.mclaren.com/formula1 – which launches ahead of next weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone, is also complemented by a new all-Spanish Twitter feed. @McLarenF1es will replicate the activity of the team’s official feed, @McLarenF1, which recently changed its name to improve accessibility and further enhance reach and engagement. The developments are the latest steps in the team’s digital strategy, which provides unique and engaging content to its fans across the world, sharing insight, imagery and information about the team’s everyday activity from its base in Woking and grands prix destinations world-over. The new Spanish website and Twitter account also reflects not only a significant uplift in interest from Mexico following the signing of Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez, but also the large Hispanic population in the USA who are increasingly activating digital content through mobile devices. Speaking about the new website, now available in his native language, Checo said: “I’m passionate about all my fans around the world, but I’m particularly fond of the people from my home in Mexico, and in Central America. Using the web and social media is all about getting closer to the fans, which is why my website is available in Spanish and English.
