Hamilton: How the hell can a dog be distracting?

Lewis Hamilton and Niki Lauda have slammed those blaming a bulldog called Roscoe for the 2008 world champion’s competitive dip.

Briton Hamilton has been outqualified by his teammate and 2013 pole master Nico Rosberg three times on the trot, and many are pointing fingers at the former McLaren driver’s new freedom at Mercedes and a dog he walks in the paddock.

“How the hell can a dog be distracting?” Hamilton said in Monaco after qualifying second behind Rosberg. “I don’t really know how I could live my life any differently, so if people have a got a problem with that then that’s their problem.”

Mercedes chairman Lauda also defended Hamilton.

“He should be allowed his freedom to do what the f— he likes,” the plain-talking Austrian told the Mirror. “If it makes him happy, he will be a better sportsman.”

Hamilton said his slight deficit to German Rosberg in the sister silver car at present is just part of his acclimatising to life at Mercedes, following an entire career with McLaren.

“I can’t say I’m doing anything different in the car,” he insisted. “I think it’s just because I’m still learning a new car.”

And Hamilton said going through a slight dip of performance is not new to him.

“It doesn’t hurt,” he said. “I’ve been very fortunate to have lots of experiences like this in the past — with Fernando Alonso, with Heikki Kovalainen and with Jenson Button.

“It doesn’t make me doubt my abilities. It just makes me want to work harder.”

Team boss Ross Brawn also expects Hamilton to bounce back soon, but he also thinks Rosberg will never be a pushover.

“What I think is that it will be pretty even spread between the two of them — at least I hope that is the case, as we don’t want one driver dominating the other,” he told Formula 1’s official website.

Brawn told Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport that it’s obvious Rosberg has the upper hand at the moment.

“At this high level, little things play a big role,” he explained.

“Nico knows every button in the car and could drive it almost asleep. Lewis is still working on it and we’re also learning about him; what he needs from the car.

“He will also get the maximum from the car, but Lewis also knows that he is fighting against an extremely talented teammate,” added Brawn. (GMM)

It is nice to see, that Nico’s talent finally is recognized by the media.
In the three years at Mercedes he also defeated “the great” (very subjective imo) Schumacher three years on the trot, out-qualifying and outracing his teammate most of the times.
and every time it was not schumachers fault, but the car is not quick enough and other lame excuses from the MSC fanbase.. eventhough the have same car, and most probably MSc would have had the better/newer updates at all times.

Now he proves it again, against -what is broadly regarded as (one of) the best qualifier of the field. And yet again, they are trying to find excuses for Rosbergs teammate to make it like Rosberg is not faster by skill but by unfortune of his teammate.. it is just ridiculous! if rosberg had the same careerpath as Lewis, i bet you he would have racked up more then just one title.

Don’t get me wrong, i like Lewis too, but rosberg doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

any one who knows anything about racing knows it takes time to settle in and learn the intricacies of a new car which when absorbed can make the difference -rosberg has the upper hand now but wait towards the end of the season to see shos the boss

“Indeed”… Roscoe, diamond earings, all over tattoes, …Switzerland is boring, rappers and the likes in his home, song recordings, Hollywood and its celebrities craving, a more mature girlfiend with glitter and maternal reqs, …only Senna and his ass kiss brother from Ferrari are better …ass biting others, oh boy, for sure glitz and glamours are more important for this infantile, stressing also an egotistic and immature individual that in the end is going to succumb due to an intense frustration.

you are very distracting lewis, something to do with your ignorance & arrogance, but you should feel freely to walk around the paddock however you like, in a pink furry hat & high heels if you feel the need.

on a good note though should the dog not be muzzled around so many people ? after all it is european law ;)

p.s i meant the bulldog & not hamilton (just wanted to clear that up) ;)

Roscoe is not distracting Lewis and whoever said that is an idiot, Nico and Lewis have been evenly matched in the past and I agree it takes time to acclimatize in any car and we are talking less than a tenth of a second

  • Not Bernie

The dog distracting? Must be the one that’s 5’5″ tall and thinks she can sing.

Good Lord you so called “people” are pathetic. “Lewis” girlfriend, he’s arrogant,he hangs out with black people, his dog is too cute” C’mon its time to grow up. So no F1 drivers have famous gfs? Glad to know there aren’t any other arrogant F1 drivers either huh? You don’t know Lewis, you don’t know his girlfriend, you don’t know his friends and you don’t know his dog. Why are you losers so threatened by him? Did he have sex with your wives/daughters? Maybe he did idk but maybe you guys should let it go and get back to bleaching your klan outfits and shining up your pretty little skinhead boots and leave the intelligent racing discussions to the adults.

All you trollers shut the Hell up.
I’m happy for Nico and Hamilton is just fine.
What I’m not happy about is how fast Mercedes figured their tire issue out.
Considering that everyone else with the exception of Lotus and Ferrari are still struggling with it.
Also, this issue about having some tire testing done with Pirelli is very suspecious.
No team goes from tearing up tires to having the best setup in two weeks.
Lets move to Canada and see what the FIA comes up with.
