Lotus boss expects some teams to show boat at Jerez test 4 February, 2013 Eric Boullier Lotus team principal Eric Boullier expects rival teams to showboat by setting fast times during the first Formula One pre-season test at Jerez, while he is also wary of others who may be sand-bagging during the course of the next four days in southern Spain. Speaking ahead of the first day of testing, Boullier said, “In many ways, pre-season testing is something of an unknown; no-one knows exactly what the other teams are doing and while some want to go for headline-grabbing fast times, others wish to hide their ultimate pace. Ultimately, all [will] want to develop the fastest car out there. That’s certainly what we’re trying to do so it’s hopefully going to be very rewarding to see the E21 take its first steps.” The team will be using a development version of the E21, and will be focus primarily on shakedown installation, reliability and aerodynamic assessment. “There’s much excitement about the E21 and we now start the process of preparing it for race readiness,” added Boullier. Romain Grosjean will drive the E21 on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Kimi Räikkönen taking the wheel on Thursday and Friday. (GP247) Subbed by AJN.
