Ex-F1 drivers looking at DTM as an option 5 December, 2012 Dec.5 (GMM) Three prominent Formula One names are being linked with the premier German touring car championship DTM. When former F1 and Champ Car driver Alex Zanardi recently tested a modified hand-controlled BMW, the 46-year-old played down suggestions that his next project could be a DTM race seat. But Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport said that there is a chance the popular Italian will soon be chosen by BMW. “Who will drive the eighth BMW M3 DTM in the coming season will be announced at a later date,” a spokesman is quoted. Former Toro Rosso driver and 2012 Pirelli tester Jaime Alguersuari has also been linked with the seat. Portuguese reports say that 2012 Williams driver Bruno Senna, who has been replaced for 2013 by Valtteri Bottas, did some test laps at the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz DTM car at the Estoril circuit at the beginning of this week. Subbed by AJN. Tweet John Senna certainly deserves to be in some form of motorsport racing. As much as I’d like to see the Senna name in F1 unfortunately he wasn’t quite good enough, but by no means terrible. Perhaps a Le Mans drive? I think he’d excel there. GALATASARAY bruno has nothing more than his family name Psych4191 @GALATASARAY Oh, how little you know. He started racing at 20, made it to F1 in six/seven years, won at monaco in GP2, outraced Maldonado in all but a few races, would have way more points than Pastor had Maldonado not won the Pirelli Lottery at Spain.. What more do you want from him? He was in a bad situation just about every year, and he still has had some impressive races.
