Webber turned down Ferrari to stay with Red Bull 16 November, 2012 Nov.16 (GMM) Red Bull‘s Mark Webber has revealed that Ferrari was interested in signing him for the 2013 season. Ultimately, the Australian decided to stay with the energy drinks owned team, despite confirming suggestions that the team’s driver manager Dr Helmut Marko is keener on Sebastian Vettel. “Everyone can see where Helmut’s allegiance lies,” Webber told CNN. “But there are two cars and I have the opportunity to drive one of them.” Previously, Webber and Ferrari had played down their reported links of earlier this year, but the 36-year-old is now more willing to reveal the extent of the talks. “Ferrari approached us first,” he said. “We made the decision just before Silverstone when both teams seemed pretty interested. I’m happy with that decision.” Subbed by AJN. Either way he would be seen as a super talented # 2 driver capable of pushing the #1 and a reliable points scorer. In addition, Marko is a bit of a dick with his attitude to Webber. His absurd comments after the Turkish GP crash between Webber and Vettel , caused by Vettel as the video transcript shows, lost him credibility with fans and competent insiders alike. Why does Red Bull keep paying this guy?? Apparently he must add value that we fans don’t readily see.
