Ferrari boss would welcome Porsche return to F1

Flashback: Race winner Giancarlo Baghetti (Ferrari 156) leads second placed place Dan Gurney (Porsche 718) in the 1961 French GP at Reims

Oct.18 (GMM) Luca di Montezemolo has said that he would welcome Porsche back to Formula One.

The VW Owned brand has played down the latest rumours about a V6-powered grand prix foray on the back of its forthcoming return to Le Mans, but Ferrari president Montezemolo said: “I feel great respect for Porsche, who I consider the main rival of many of our [road] cars.

“Competition is always welcome, especially when you’re sure you will win,” the Italian is quoted by Spain’s AS newspaper.

But even with Porsche rejecting the latest speculation, the German newspaper Kolner Express said that all the signs are pointing towards a 2016 foray into F1 for the famous sports car maker.

Ferrari boss is full of something, it’s not funny :( Why can’t he just let the Ferrari F1 team alone.

LdM is such a Berlusconi wannabe.

A few years back at Porsche Parade in Portland Orgeon I asked Hans-Peter Porsche if Porsche would ever return to F1. He said it would never happen because F1 doesn’t develop parts or technology they could directly implement into their roads car.

Porsche were highly embarrassed with their last attempt at F1, and don’t want a repeat.
Porsche would prefer to be a big fish in a little pond than give F1 another try.

Porsche builds world-class race engines and particularly they build terrific small displacement turbo engines, so I doubt they would be humiliated anew if they do return to F1, given the new 2014 engine formula. Montezemolo has enough trouble with RBR poised to suddenly snatch the title away from Alonso late in the season (for the 2nd time in 3 years!). Does he really need to ‘welcome’ Porsche back into F1? That’s like General George Custer welcoming the Sioux at the battle of the Little Bighorn…
