Whitmarsh defends Perez after “crazy” jibe by Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton McLaren Sergio Perez Sauber Formula One World Championship, Rd15, Japanese Grand Prix, Preparations, Suzuka, Japan, Sunday 7 October 2012.Oct.11 (GMM) Martin Whitmarsh has defended McLaren‘s new signing, Sergio Perez in the aftermath of the Mexican’s duel with Lewis Hamilton at Suzuka.

After their on-track battle at Suzuka, in which Perez spun his Sauber into retirement, departing McLaren protege Lewis Hamilton described the Mexican’s driving as “crazy”.

But team boss Whitmarsh, who has signed the 22-year-old to replace the Mercedes-bound Hamilton in 2013, told the Independent that he disagrees with the 2008 world champion.

“It [the Suzuka incident] shows we have someone [Perez] who wants to go out there and race and challenge,” he said.

“There is a diamond that needs to be honed there and that is quite an interesting challenge,” added Whitmarsh.

Look at the footage onboard Sergio’s car it looks suspiciously like Hamilton braked early for the corner Sergio commented that he didn’t expect him to do that in his apology to the team.
I have looked at it a few times and I agree it’s dubious but I am not an F1 driver, nor am I so politically correct I cannot see that the King is in the altogether.

    @ Phil:
Same thoughts here it looked like Lewis thought you are not catching me twice also he moved more to the middle of the track.
I think Lewis thought he made me look a prat so I will now make him look like one.
