Weber criticises Mercedes over Schumacher retirement

Michael Schumacher (GER) (in car) WTS Motorsport, won leg one but only managed 13th overall, with his manager Willi Weber (GER) (right). 36th Macau Formula Three Grand Prix, Macau, Hong Kong, 26 November 1989Oct.8 (GMM) Michael Schumacher’s former manager has criticised the way in which Mercedes has handled the great German’s return to retirement.

The seven time world champion announced his decision on Thursday, mere days after Mercedes said it had signed McLaren‘s Lewis Hamilton to be Nico Rosberg’s teammate in 2013 and beyond.

Schumacher’s former manager Weber said: “I would have preferred that he had been able to announce his departure first, not after the commitment of his successor Hamilton.”

Weber told SID news agency that Mercedes was unable to guarantee that “the car would be better next year”.

“And sometimes even the reputation of a seven time world champion is at risk,” he added.

Weber also said that he doubts whether Schumacher’s next move will be to Mercedes team management.

Mercedes is an ass. In more ways than one.

It is better if schumi takes an executive role back at Ferrari not the cra p merc. Weber is right. Now brawn and haug are using the alibi that they knew of schumi’s plan to retire only minutes before the announcement while todt knew days before. Cra p.

Enough said lol. It is a no brainier, a dog of a car.

Personally I have a Porsche, will never buy a Mercedes.

  • Webber is a punk

Webber is a loud mouth punk who needs to worry about himself instead of others.

Schumacher has failed in his come aback. Rosberg has won a race in this years Mercedes but the car was designed around Schumacher after Rosberg won his race it quickly became job one at Mercedes to throw 100% of the teams backing to try and get Schumacher a win and the simple fact is Schumacher just does not have it any more.

In fact Schumacher really misses those exotic Bridgestone tires only he was allowed to race on from Bridgestone that are documented to have been worth 2 full seconds a lap over the tires Bridgestone gave to the rest of the teams.

Schumacher has never been anything more then an average driver at best. That is why the retired greats do not really respect Schumacher and his 7 titles and 91 wins because they know he had an advantage over the rest of the field due to those exotic Bridgestone tires.

Those are facts that have been documented and cannot be disputed. For the Schumacher fanbois who will bring up Benneton lets not forget that team was run by a man who was one of F1’s biggest cheaters and was even banned from F1 because of cheating. How he got that banned overturned is beyond me. Benneton was found to have traction control in their electronics. They claimed to have never used it but can you really believe them?

I think this failed Schumacher comeback revealed that without traction control and exotic tires Schumacher was in fact just an average driver at best and Schumacher knows it as does Mercedes.

    @Webber is a punk

“Schumacher has never been anything more then an average driver at best. That is why the retired greats do not really respect Schumacher and his 7 titles and 91 wins because they know he had an advantage over the rest of the field due to those exotic Bridgestone tires.”

If you say so, care to explain his 94 & 95 titles which were on Goodyears?

“I think this failed Schumacher comeback revealed that without traction control and exotic tires Schumacher was in fact just an average driver at best and Schumacher knows it as does Mercedes.”

Then how about Senna? You know during his period in F1, the cars had TC, launch Control, ABS, & Active Suspension right? You’re saying Senna’s not good too? Prost before that? Alonso’s 2 titles in ’05 & 06? The cars still had TC. He’s actually crap too? Kimi’s car in ’07 also had TC. Now in Lotus he hasn’t won yet. Does this mean he’s not winning coz he’s actually crap in a car without TC?

I’m not a Schumi fanboy… but I accept that he’s one of the best. Haters gonna hate. He’s the best but you don’t have to like him.. but you must admit that winning 7 titles is not based on luck. He moved to Ferrari when the team was nothing and bought it up while Rubens could only watch.

You really know what his problem is? He’s OLD. He simply doesn’t have the speed and reactions of a young man anymore. And he LEFT the sport for 3 years.

Have you ever played football, built your speed and stamina, and stopped playing for 2-3 years for whatever reason, and started playing back? You feel awful. Slow. Out of breath easily, right?

You should try it, then you know how it feels.

If you really are that “smart” about Schumi you should be in a F1 team. But I guess your not… coz you’re not actually smart. Just pretending to be.

Talk with your sane mind, not with the thing that sits between your legs in your underwear.

Funny, out of all big car manufacturers that have been part of F1, only Renault shows that they have racing at heart and that they approach racing as racers, not as corporate executives. All the other ones do, and treat racing as business only. To include the drivers. It is a shame for Schumi, I think his legacy is was dented by inability of one of the most prestigious car makers in the world to make halfdecent car. I am not even talking a car that is capable of consistent winning, no a car that doesn’t need to fight with the likes of Marussia and Caterham. Shame.

Merc have humiliated schumi by announcing hamilton’s arrival first. This is not the way to treat any such a legend who came back from retirement due to the pressure of Brawn. He should not stay at merc in other role from hereafter.
