Ferrari on verge of confirming Massa for 2013 season 25 September, 2012 Sep.25 (GMM) Ferrari is set to announce that Felipe Massa is staying with the famous Italian team in 2013, despite intense speculation surrounding the future of the Brazilian, who since 2010 has struggled to shine alongside his highly rated teammate, Fernando Alonso. But, writing for the Swiss newspaper Blick, veteran correspondent Roger Benoit said that the 31-year-old is staying put in the wake of his recent surge in form. “It will be his eighth season in red,” wrote Benoit. In Singapore last weekend, Alonso publicly backed Massa, deriding the “little names” that had been linked with his place for next season. “With all the names you hear, if you compare what Felipe has done and what these little names have done…” he said. “In my opinion we need to have a driver that respects Ferrari, that respects the tradition that here we work for the team, for the red cars,” added Alonso. Personally I think the big moves will only come in 2014… O I agree, the big moves will only come in 2014 when Raikkonen finishes his contract with Lotus, should he decide to remain in F1. f1 fan “In my opinion we need to have a driver that respects Ferrari, that respects the tradition that here we work for the team, for the red cars.” you guyz should have understood what he’s trying to say Twiinz I like Massa, but he needs to move on. His rep is fully tarnished. He needs to go elsewhere and reestablish himself. Hieki did it after being dumped from Maclaren and he is back in high regards with most everyone. Besides, Ferrari need more consistency from their #2. WCC money is a big deal, even to the deep pockets of the Scuderia. AlsoRan Massa is the worst driver in a top 3 car by a wide margin. How he manages to hold on to his seat is beyond me. Virtually any other driver in the paddock would do better. sleek we(ferrari fans) knew it all along that massa will get 2013 contract…he fits criteria of ferrari’s number two driver and no doubt he has been struggling really hard in last couple of races The Zone Full points to Ferrari for the time allowed to Massa to recuperate and let him try get over the near fatal injury and return to his old good form. But he hasn’t. He is severely under performing and letting the Scuderia and himself down. He has cost Ferrari a chance to compete for the constructors championship. It is time to say Big Thankyou – but Goodbye. There are some seriously good drivers that want to show and build reputations. It would be a huge mistake to re-sign him for 2013. They need a good number 2 driver, Perez would be perfect. He already knows the team and he is super hungry and out to show the world what he can do. Massa was truly great once but no more… it is time to say thanks and goodbye for the sake of the constructors title chances and the whole team. fapper wow. if felipe was like the old felipe during the 2007-2008 season, i would’ve been impressed. but the way he drives from last season up to this current season, is way off. now i now why the ferrari team is signing felipe for 2013, so that he’ll not be a threat to fernando next year again.
