Alonso reckons Ferrari career could stretch into 2017 5 September, 2012 Sep.5 (GMM) Fernando Alonso has admitted he could stay at Ferrari beyond his 36th birthday – provided the motivation is still there. The former double world champion, in his third year with the Italian marque and leading the world championship, is currently under contract until the end of the 2016 season. “It’s too early to think about 2017,” the Spaniard is quoted by the EFE news agency. “I cannot know what my feelings will be then or if I’ll be similarly motivated.” “If I am hungry and I have to race, I love doing it and – if I do – it will be with Ferrari, that’s for sure,” said the 31-year-old. “If I feel it is time to stop and lead a different life, that is a decision that I can only make at that precise time,” added Alonso. Alonso debuted for Minardi at the Australian GP in 20o1 and has also driven for Renault and McLaren. Subbed by AJN. I’m a big Alonso fan!!! McLaren Fan We will have to see if the sport has been crippled by the FIA and if they let the drivers get in the car rather than do all the race from the simulators Elf & Safety Kimi4WDC @McLarenFan Good stuff. Hope we are wrong McLaren boo win the wdc first fernando with ferrari before looking ahead McLaren Fan @Kimi4WDC: So do I but the thieving Barstewards (FIA) are hell bent on bleeding the teams dry and destroying the sport. Alonso would not want to drive a car wrapped in cotton wool. alonso_is_slow money, team orders, a weak teammate…. why would he change? to get squeezed again like when Hamilton beat him? Ankit @Mclaren boo Sensing your tone, I can judge that you are trying to taunt him by saying that he should not think of the future and first win a championship for Ferrari because you think he’s not capable of doing so! My dear misinformed/ignorant friend, I’d like to tell you that it’s Ferrari that needs to step up to Fernando, not Fernando to up his driving skills. Because if you’ve watched the races in 2012 so far, anybody would say that he’s extracted more than what was expected out of any driver ever, from the car. Clearly it looks like you haven’t been following F1 2012 properly. Ferrari will gladly sign Alonso for the next 10 years if they have to if he keeps driving like this. If you gave him a red bull or a mclaren, he would kick everybody’s sorry a*s on the track! Maybe even break the record of most number of wins in a season. You never know, with the kind of driving skill he’s showing right now. Ferrari just has to provide him with a better car and he’s good to go for how many ever years he wants to stay at Ferrari! I don’t think you or anybody for that matter can ask him to anything because he’s already delivering 110%. If there was any other driver, other than Fernando, in a Ferrari, I highly doubt he would be able to finish even in top 5 that too consistently. With him we’re getting unexpected victories (3 till now, and I don’t care how they came). McLaren boo @Ankit shut up. blabber all you want. fernando aint got it. Alonso_is_slow Alonso is a waste of money, there are better drivers for less. Amkit A s s alonso was just lucky with those wins. if he wasn’t able to extract everything from the car then he’s not worth it being in a ferrari. that’s why they’re paying him a whole bunch. lucky ignorant @amkit McLaren Fan @Yoda: What are you on some sort of spacial distortion medication.
