Feb.18 (PVM) Felipe Massa has had two very busy days [Thursday and Friday] at Maranello, working in the Ferrari Formula 1 simulator in preparation for the forthcoming Barcelona tests at Circuit de Catalunya.
The Brazilian will be back on track this coming Thursday, 23 February, when he will take over from Fernando Alonso at the wheel of the Ferrari F2012 in Spain.
“In the meantime, I’ve been able to try the car on the Catalunya Circuit, at least on the simulator,” said Massa before hitting the road home to Monaco. “The past two days have been very interesting, because we ran both on the track where the new car has already run, in other words Jerez and then on the next circuit.”
As he mentioned immediately after the Jerez test, earlier this month, the team are working hard to extract the maximum performance from the 2012 car which he and team mate Fernando Alonso are convinced ahs potential.
“There’s a lot of work to do to fine tune the F2012 but, as both Fernando and I said last week, I think this car has plenty of potential. It will be important to do a lot of kilometres next week, because we have many ideas we want to try out and it’s essential we don’t have any problems: I know that on this front too, the team has worked assiduously to ensure that me and Fernando can do a lot of laps,’ revealed the Brazilian who has eleven grand prix victories on his CV, but last year failed to make it on to the podium.
Massa added, “I’ll say it before we even start: again this coming session [in Barcelona], we won’t be looking at the stopwatch, especially as you can never know what your rivals are running. The truth will only begin to emerge in Melbourne.”
