Vettel aims for Schumi season wins record

Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher

Sep.27 (PVM) In 2004 Michael Schumacher won 13 grands prix on his way to his seventh and final Formula 1 world title. This year his fellow countryman, Sebastian Vettel, has notched up nine victories so far this season and with five still to go could claim the record for most wins in a single season.

With his win in Singapore, Vettel has matched Nigel Mansell’s 1992 record of nine victories in one season. Schumacher’s records are now in his sights: 11 wins in 2002 and the big one: 13 wins in 2004.

Vettel needs to win all five remaining races to accomplish the feat in Formula 1.

Yeah, but can he do that when Alonso and Hamilton have cars as fast as his? That is the question, ladies and gentlemen.

  • Evel

Not unrealistic at all – Vettel has a very good chance of winning all 5 remaining races, especially if the RB7 continues to be much quicker than it’s rivals.
Barichello was able to steal some wins away from Schumi in the last remaining races of 2004 but Vettel doesn’t seem likely to face the same problem from his team mate.

  • Evel

To me it doesn’t mean as much as when Michael won it – Vettel’s got the quickest car and the slowest team mate.
The only guy that really should be able to challenge him in the same machinery, shows very little chance of doing so judging by his dismal form.

ACTUALLY THERE IS NO QUESTION @BUTTERFLY. IT HAS SHOWN BY STATS IN THIS 2011 SEASON THAT VETTEL HAS DOMINATED THE CHANCE FROM SCORE BOARDS AND BY OUT BEATING EVERY CAR IN ALMOST EVERY RACE THIS SEASON. HE DESERVES THE CHAMPIONSHIP. AND I AM A ALONSO FAN. FERRARI NEEDS TO STEP IT UP. REAL TALK!

@ evel and michael didnt have the best car in 2004? Yeah the Scuderia Marlboro Schumacher Ferrari wasnt a good fit for Rubens in 2004…
