Extreme Ferrari F11 to launch end January

Jan.04 (PVM) Ferrari have announced that they will launch their 2011 Formula 1 challenger at Fiorano during the last week of January.

Sources close to the team expect the launch to take place on Thursday, 27 January before the cars are transported off to the Ricardo Tormo circuit near Valencia for the season’s first F1 test which runs from 1 February until 3 February.

Ferrari technical director Aldo Costa has said that the F11 will feature “extreme design” which team principal Stefano Domenicali elaborated on, “When our Technical Director, Aldo Costa, spoke of extreme design, he wanted to spur all our engineers to push on the theme of innovation which, in Formula 1, means exploring all areas right up to the limits set by the regulations and I also hope that will be the case.”

Domenicali added, “It is a difficult challenge, because we operate in a very competitive environment: we know that in 2011 we will have to start off immediately with a car capable of winning, so that we are not always having to catch up, as was the case this year.”

The new car passed FIA crash tests shortly before Christmas.

Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will be in the driving seats for the Maranello squad in 2011.
